Doner’s Newport Beach Office Rocks it Out!

By Editor, November 1st, 2010

September 30th was a big night for Doner, Newport Beach. As we entered our own band in ThinkLA’s Adjam – battle of the ad bands at the House of Blues in Hollywood. 1,300 people were there to cheer on the bands, and Doner had a great turnout. The band was fronted by guitarists/vocalists Chuck Meehan, CD and Josh Eck, writer, with former Doner Mediabuyer Scott Klatskin on drums. Doner truly had the house rocking, and their tour de force was a searing rendition of Guns and Roses “Live and Let die” which brought the house down. Doner held their own against the top agencies in LA, including Chiat, Deutsch and Team One. Rock on!

Happy Halloween!

Well our 3rd annual pumpkin carving contest went off without a hitch again this year!  We had a great turnout with nearly 20 carved pumpkins decorating our lobby.  It seemed that the trend this year was current events.  The first, second and third place winners included a pumpkin taken over by hoarders, Sarah Palin and a series of pumpkins turned into New York City overrun by bed bugs, all pretty frightening if you ask us.  The best part was that we got to celebrate the holiday and our creativity with some pizza and beer.

It was a great event that put us all in the Halloween spirit and we look forward to carving it up again next year!  Check out the pictures of the winning pumpkins below.

Happy Halloween!!

1st place – Carved by Cathy Butler and Natalie Bierl

2nd place – Carved by Ken Spera and Gail Offen

3rd place – Carved by Lindsay Fritzer, Kim Kocan, Kristin Hopper and Katie Wolph

Doner is Authentically Pink

By Editor, October 13th, 2010

This summer, in support of our client, Komen Northeast Ohio, our Cleveland office put together a team for the Northeast Ohio Race for the Cure. Employees were challenged with fun, team building activities to help raise money to support the cause which resulted in surpassing the $10,000 goal and raising over $12,600!  Komen Northeast Ohio demonstrated their appreciation for all of Doner’s hard work with a great mention in the Komen newsletter, Pink Ink.  Check it out below!

We couldn’t be more proud of Team Doner!

When Komen Northeast Ohio interviewed new advertising agencies, each prospect was asked to explain how they would support Komen’s mission and be “authentically pink.” In their new partner, Doner, Komen found an entire team of powerful, passionate and authentically pink people! Since taking Komen as a client, Doner has made many introductions to potential partners, created a fresh look for the 2010 Race for the Cure® marketing materials and even created a Komen Corner in their office. This sitting area, painted Komen Pink, gives Doner’s creative team a place to be inspired by Komen’s mission.

Doner also went above and beyond when creating their team for the Northeast Ohio Race for the Cure. General Manager Jennifer Deutsch challenged her staff to create fun ways to engage their staff, vendors and clients in the Komen event. The results were a summer filled with fundraising, team building and a whole lot of pink.

Kicking off their efforts in June, Doner held a “shorts day,” a Texas Hold ‘Em tournament, and a Pink-Pong tournament. Then in August, as a way to engage their entire office building, Doner hosted a “Komen Carnival” in the lobby of their office building with all proceeds going towards Team Doner’s 2010 Challenge pledge of $10,000. The Komen Carnival featured a clown, balloon darts, a duck pond, pink treats, a 50/50 raffle and more. The day concluded with an office party which featured a Chinese auction and pie toss where a $5 donation provided the chance to toss a whipped-cream pie at a co-worker. The Komen Carnvial raised $1700 for Team Doner and Deutsch said it was the best team building event that they had ever held.

To date, Team Doner has surpassed their $10,000 goal and has raised over $12,600, placing them in the top 10 teams for the 2010 Northeast Ohio Race. For a team of 55 people, that’s authentically pink!
