Doner Goes Pink For Komen Carnival

By Editor, August 17th, 2011

As the advertising agency of the Northeast Ohio chapter of Susan G. Komen, Doner supports the non-profit with marketing efforts throughout the year. In addition, the employees within our Cleveland office have joined forces to make up a team that will participate in the 2011 Race for the Cure.  With a pledge goal of $15,000 the office has developed various fundraising events in order to help them reach this goal.  One of those events, the Komen Carnival and Bake Sale went off without a hitch this past Friday, Aug. 12.  The event was a huge success full of fun games and, of course, Komen’s signature color, PINK! The Carnival and Bake Sale helped Doner raise more than $1,500  for the cause.

The Burning River Roller Girls, Cleveland’s roller derby team, skated around during the event, adding to the excitement.  The Flower Clown was also a huge hit.  He made balloon animals for children and adults alike to enjoy.

Cleveland’s local news, NBC affiliate WKYC 3 and Fox 8, covered the event. Both sent reporters that produced news segments for the evening news.  In addition, Doner employee family members and neighboring business employees stopped by the Carnival to show their support.

As Komen Northeast Ohio Affiliate’s agency of record, Doner manages all of the collateral development and distribution for the organization’s annual Northeast Ohio Race for the Cure. In 2010, Doner created the “Twenty Ten Challenge” to encourage an increase in fundraising efforts of race participants. Throughout the partnership the success of Northeast Ohio Race for the Cure has grown in number of participants, fundraisers and money raised.

Doner is Authentically Pink

This summer, in support of our client, Komen Northeast Ohio, our Cleveland office put together a team for the Northeast Ohio Race for the Cure. Employees were challenged with fun, team building activities to help raise money to support the cause which resulted in surpassing the $10,000 goal and raising over $12,600!  Komen Northeast Ohio demonstrated their appreciation for all of Doner’s hard work with a great mention in the Komen newsletter, Pink Ink.  Check it out below!

We couldn’t be more proud of Team Doner!

When Komen Northeast Ohio interviewed new advertising agencies, each prospect was asked to explain how they would support Komen’s mission and be “authentically pink.” In their new partner, Doner, Komen found an entire team of powerful, passionate and authentically pink people! Since taking Komen as a client, Doner has made many introductions to potential partners, created a fresh look for the 2010 Race for the Cure® marketing materials and even created a Komen Corner in their office. This sitting area, painted Komen Pink, gives Doner’s creative team a place to be inspired by Komen’s mission.

Doner also went above and beyond when creating their team for the Northeast Ohio Race for the Cure. General Manager Jennifer Deutsch challenged her staff to create fun ways to engage their staff, vendors and clients in the Komen event. The results were a summer filled with fundraising, team building and a whole lot of pink.

Kicking off their efforts in June, Doner held a “shorts day,” a Texas Hold ‘Em tournament, and a Pink-Pong tournament. Then in August, as a way to engage their entire office building, Doner hosted a “Komen Carnival” in the lobby of their office building with all proceeds going towards Team Doner’s 2010 Challenge pledge of $10,000. The Komen Carnival featured a clown, balloon darts, a duck pond, pink treats, a 50/50 raffle and more. The day concluded with an office party which featured a Chinese auction and pie toss where a $5 donation provided the chance to toss a whipped-cream pie at a co-worker. The Komen Carnvial raised $1700 for Team Doner and Deutsch said it was the best team building event that they had ever held.

To date, Team Doner has surpassed their $10,000 goal and has raised over $12,600, placing them in the top 10 teams for the 2010 Northeast Ohio Race. For a team of 55 people, that’s authentically pink!

Helping to Fight Breast Cancer with Komen for the Cure

By Editor, April 19th, 2010

One in eight American women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime. Without a cure in the next 25 years, an estimated 25 million women worldwide will be diagnosed with breast cancer and 10 million could die from it. Because of great improvements in the treatment of breast cancer over the past 20 years, the number of breast cancer survivors continues to rise. There are about 2.5 million survivors alive in the U.S. today. Chances are you know someone who has been affected by it. So we’re very proud to join the cause as agency of record for The Northeast Ohio Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure. We’ll be responsible for developing materials to increase awareness and drive more participation for the organization’s largest event, the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure to be held on Sept. 11, 2010. As the world’s largest grassroots network of breast cancer survivors and activists, Susan G. Komen is working together to save lives, empower people, ensure quality care for all and energize science to find the cures. We couldn’t be more excited to work with this great cause and look forward to helping expand the awareness of and participation in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure® to the greater Cleveland area.
