Doner Thanks Interns With A Day At Comerica Park!

By Editor, July 29th, 2011

To celebrate and thank our interns, Doner hosted Intern-Palooza yesterday where the interns were invited to head to Comerica Park to enjoy a Tigers game.  The idea for the celebration stemmed from the size of the summer internship program, which has 26 participants this year in our Southfield office.

The interns come from schools all over Michigan including College for Creative Studies, Michigan State, Grand Valley, Central Michigan, Calvin College, Wayne State, University of Michigan, Lawrence Tech, Western Michigan and Bowling Green.  Each intern is placed into a certain department of the company: Creative, Media, Project Management, IT or Production and is expected to work closely with full-time employees as well as the other interns in their respective departments.

“Since they’ve all been working so hard together throughout the summer we thought this would be a great opportunity for them to spend some time networking outside of the office,” said Isabel Nelson, Recruitment Coordinator, who helped plan the event.

Despite the intense heat and the Tigers falling apart in the top of the 7th it was a wonderful afternoon spent enjoying the city and company.

Tennis Finals serve up some entertainment for this week’s summer party

By Editor, July 21st, 2011

After fierce competition over the past couple weeks, the Dunkin Doner Mid-Summer Tennis Classic finalists took center stage at the weekly Thursday afternoon office get-together.

The initial plan was to have the finals outside, really testing the skills and endurance of the players.  However, due to the insanely hot weather the finalists all got “home court advantage”, and the finals took place on the Third Floor Mini-Court.

No sporting event would be complete if junk food did not accompany the live spectacle.  Pizza was a special treat this week, along with ice cold brews.  80s  music played as Scott Wolf and Hanser Quintela faced off for the A division.  Followed by Matthew Livengood and Chris Waigand for the B Division.

Scott prevailed amongst the self-proclaimed skilled A league.  And Chris won out amongst the B league.   The winners finally got the long coveted Dunkin’ Doner sweatsuit, to further confirm their success as Mid-Summer Tennis Classic Champions.

It was the best place to stay cool and celebrate another week in the books, thankfully with infamous Tennis grunting at a minimum.

All is Fair in Love and War

Nothing gets creativity flowing like some fierce competition.  With Wimbledon grunting being a hot topic right now, we have decided to continue upon the great success of the Spring Doubles Tennis tournament with our first annual Dunkin’ Doner Mid-Summer Mini Tennis Classic.  The third floor tennis court will set the scene for the first few rounds of the tournament, leading up to the outdoor finals on the lawn on Thursday, July 21 during Dunkin’ Doner.

There’s still time to sign up to showcase your athleticism and to secure your exclusive Dunkin’ Doner headband and wristband. With two divisions, ‘A’ for the true competitor and ‘B’ for the less serious player, everyone has a chance to seize victory and with it a Dunkin’ Doner sweat suit (fully appropriate for “dress for the day” dress code).  Sign up by the elevators by this Friday, July 8th to get in on the friendly competition!

A special shout out to our finalists from the Doubles tournament: Murray White & Andrew Copenhaver, Scott Wolf & Brett Barnett, and Chris Everhart & Hanser Quintela.  Our defending champions Chris and Hanser are the guys to beat.

Check out the pictures of the finalists below.  This could be you in just a few weeks!

Doner’s Salute to America

By Editor, July 1st, 2011

To celebrate an end to another successful week and America’s birthday, yesterday afternoon, we partied on the lawn with live music, food and refreshments.  At this week’s Dunkin’ Doner party we were lucky to have Detroit-based Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr. who performed a set of original songs along with a few well known classics.  While performing, they also encourage the creative team to consider them for commercials – not a bad idea considering the positive response they received from the crowd! The band recently signed a record deal with Warner Brothers and is scheduled to play at Lollapalooza and Austin City Limits in the coming months.  Along with the staples expected at Dunkin’ Doner, there was a special treat of pulled pork sandwiches with the most patriotic fixings including barbeque sauce, coleslaw and pickles.  The only thing missing was fireworks, but given the time of the celebration, the sunshine and gorgeous weather sufficed.

We wish everyone a fun and safe 4th of July!
